Park Hill Meeting House Cleaning

6/12/2023 (Permalink)

Collage of photos with technicians cleaning inside a historic church. The Park Hill Meeting House is located in Westmoreland, NH and was built in 1764.

Recently, our SERVPRO of Cheshire County Team was contacted by a board member from the Park Hill Meeting House as the building was in need of professional cleaning services. The Park Hill Meeting House, located in Westmoreland, NH, was built in 1764, and is an example of Federal and Greek Revival style of architecture. The building has been moved twice since being built and has been significantly altered because of the moves.

With multiple events and occasions coming up this summer and later in the year, the representatives of the Park Hill Meeting House decided it was a good time to reach out to our team to provide a thorough cleaning throughout the building. Services included carpet cleaning, floor cleaning, vacuuming of flat surfaces, cleaning of bathrooms, kitchen, and other common areas, to name a few.

It was an honor for our team to work in such a historic building. We appreciate the opportunity to help spruce up this incredible southwestern New Hampshire landmark.

Four pictures of technicians performing cleaning services. SERVPRO of Cheshire County is prepared to handle all of your commercial cleaning projects.

Here at SERVPRO of Cheshire County, we're able to provide a variety of services in any type of facility, large or small. We're the nation's leader in emergency cleanup and restoration services follow fire, water, and mold damage. We are also capable of handling large, commercial sized cleaning projects whether it be emergency related, cleaning following a construction project, mold remediation, or a maintenance related cleaning of the facility.

In this recent project, our team was contacted by one of our clients to carry out a top-to-bottom cleaning at their long-haul transport facility's extensive garage area. Over time, as their trucks are being serviced and are constantly entering and exiting the building, exhaust dust and debris accumulates on a variety of surfaces in the garage area. Our clients knew exactly how wo contact for this type of project.

Our skilled team, while working off of lifts, ladders and movable stairs, went through the affected areas and carried out an extensive cleaning, using similar methods and products that would be used following a fire or smoke damage. Our technicians used HEPA filtered vacuums and dense dry-cleaning sponges to remove the heaviest layers of debris and followed up with a more detailed wet cleaning in specific areas of the garage. The process not only removed heavy debris, but also helped to deodorize the area.

We're grateful to have been contacted by this client on multiple occasions for this service and look forward to working with them again. Commercial cleaning projects such as this are but another way SERVPRO of Cheshire County can be a valuable resource to your commercial business or facility.

Commercial Services: Specialty Drying

12/29/2022 (Permalink)

Room with wall cavities exposed and green commercial dryers. Not every water damage mitigation project is the same. Our team is able to determine what affected areas can be restored vs. replaced.

SERVPRO of Cheshire County is the area's premiere emergency cleanup and restoration services provider for all residential and commercial properties. Emergency restoration projects take on many different forms and can vary when it comes to size, severity and complexity.

When dealing with water damage, the goal is to ensure proper drying of the affected areas throughout the building while attempting to preserve the materials as much as possible. In many cases, we are able to successfully dry building materials in place, while in other cases, we may be forced to remove affected materials if they are not able to be successfully dried. By using moisture testing instruments and devices, our team of trained water restoration professionals can track and determine how far water has traveled and what areas have been affected by water.

By using this technology, our technicians can remove only the necessary materials to better dry the other areas. For example, we can remove small areas of wall cavities to dry the rest of the wall or ceiling. We can remove baseboard trim to dry the lower part of a wall. With the proper space and in the right environment, we can dry above and below a floor system to prevent removing the entire floor.

Determining the level of damage in order to strategically decide the more effective plan for drying water damaged building materials is another reason why SERVPRO of Cheshire County is trusted for emergency cleanup and restoration.

9/26/2022 (Permalink)

Office space with sections of drywall and flooring removed. Large dehumidifier in middle of photo. No matter when a disaster occurs, SERVPRO of Cheshire County is ready to assist with fire or water damage.

In this recent commercial water mitigation project, the SERVPRO of Cheshire County Team was contacted by a local company who had experienced water damage due to an expired hot water heater. The water heater was located on the second level of the building. The second level was affected but a substantial amount of damage was caused to the first floor which was primarily office space.

SERVPRO of Cheshire County received initial notification of the damage after hours on a weekend and immediately mobilized a team of technicians to being the mitigation services. The first step was to extract the standing water which was contained to the first level. Once the water was removed, commercial drying equipment such as air movers and dehumidifiers were installed to begin the drying process. Over the course of the next few days, building materials that were determined to be unsalvageable were cut, bagged, and discarded. These materials included drywall, trim, carpeting, insulation, and sections of laminate flooring.

The areas that were affected were then dried thoroughly for an additional two days at which point the drying equipment was removed. All affected areas were dried completely and cleaned.

Not all emergencies happen Monday through Friday between the hours of 9AM and 5PM. In fact, very often they occur outside of these "normal business hours." SERVPRO of Cheshire County is ready for whatever happens when it happens. Making fire and water damage "Like it never even happened."

Commercial Cleaning: Carpet Cleaning

12/13/2021 (Permalink)

Side by side photo of carpets before and after cleaning. The proof is in the pictures! SERVPRO of Cheshire County's proven cleaning process of commercial carpeting is unmatched!

Walk-in traffic, staff & employees, mud season, winter elements, general wear and tear: these are all contributors of debris and soiling of your commercial property's carpeted floors. If not maintained on a regular basis, carpets can become damaged or permanently stained. Basic vacuuming and maintenance cleaning are good proactive steps to take in preserving the life of your carpet, but carpets should be professionally cleaned or shampooed once a year or every 12 months.

SERVPRO of Cheshire County uses a multi-step process in cleaning commercial carpeting. For heavily soiled carpets, a pre-vacuuming is performed, followed by a through shampoo which brings dirt and grime to the surface of the carpet fibers, and lastly, a deep hot water extraction. The hot water extraction flushes soils and debris from the carpet as well as excess shampoo. Our process utilizes a truck mounted extraction unit for the absolute best removal of debris, water and shampoo. This method is far superior then any portable cleaning. Due to poor extraction, portable cleaners can leave a high amount of shampoo and soils behind, and the carpets appear dirty and dingy.

SERVPRO of Cheshire County has the equipment and specially formulated cleaning products to clean your commercial property's carpets at the highest level. Contact us today to set up a consultation. We're happy to make carpet soil and debris "Like it never even happened."

Untreated Water Damage at You Home or Business

6/10/2020 (Permalink)

A SERVPRO technician tearing down a ceiling as a result of water damage A ceiling being torn down after water leaked from above.

When assessing water damage, an important thing to remember is that a small leak that may appear minor can actually lead to a large scale mold issue. There are many things to consider when deciding if water damage is worth the money to repair such as; corroding pipes, a decrease in the value of your home, damaged ceilings, damaged flooring, and many more issues. It may seem like a quick fix to paint over a water spot on your ceiling or wall, but molds could be growing in the dry wall underneath which can cause health effects. Electrical shorts are another side effect of unattended water damage which can be a huge fire hazard. When it comes to your flooring, wood is very absorbent so the longer the water sits, the worse the wood will get resulting in a much more expensive fix. This goes for carpets too as carpets can actually begin to break down the longer they are left wet. The safest and most cost efficient thing to do when you realize you have water damage is to get it fixed as soon as possible.

Here are some helpful SERVPRO tips on what to do after flooding occurs:

  • Remove excess water by mopping and blotting.
  • Wipe excess water from wood furniture after removal of lamps and tabletop items.
  • Remove and prop wet upholstery and cushions.
  • Place aluminum foil or wood blocks between furniture legs and wet carpeting.
  • Turn air conditioning on for maximum drying in summer.
  • Remove colored rugs from wet carpeting.
  • Remove art objects to a safe, dry place.
  • Gather loose items from floors.

Cold & Flu Season Is Here- Here Are Some Tips To Keep You And Your Coworkers Healthy!

11/8/2019 (Permalink)

picture of green tissue box with a tissue sticking out of the top. Black frame and green frame around tissue box. Our team hopes you have a healthy and happy holiday season!

Cold and flu season is upon us. To protect you and those you work with, it’s never a bad idea to revisit simple but important ways to stay healthy:

  • Eat Your Fruits & Veggies! Having healthy eating habits is one of the key components to warding off illness. Our bodies’ best line of defense against illness starts with the nutrients found in the food we eat. Everything in moderation is key to staying on track and not going overboard on junk food. Cancel your trips to the vending machine by stashing healthy snacks like fresh fruit, trail mix or jerky in the break room or at your desk.
  • Drink up. Staying hydrated is one of the most important habits you can have to help protect yourself from illness.

How Our Emergency Ready Profile Can Help Your Business

4/25/2019 (Permalink)

The majority of businesses that recover after a disaster have an emergency plan in place.

When a disaster such as a flood or fire strike, having an emergency plan in place can make recovering your business smoother and alleviate stress. It's unpleasant to imagine that a disaster could ever happen to your business but having an emergency plan in place before the disaster occurs can be what saves your business. The majority of businesses that recover after a disaster have an emergency plan in place. We have helped several local companies put together what we call an Emergency Ready Profile (ERP) to help them be more prepared in the event of an emergency by putting all pertinent information at their fingertips through our mobile app and/or a physical copy of the emergency plan. The Emergency Ready Profile is a no-cost service and can be customized to suit the needs of municipalities, real estate offices, insurance offices, commercial properties, apartment complexes, schools and other businesses.

Find Out How SERVPRO Takes Care of Your Bookstore After Fire Damage!

12/7/2018 (Permalink)

SERVPRO of Cheshire County is here to take care of your bookstore and restore it "Like it never even happened."

An Electrical Malfunction Can Cause Fire Damage in Your Rindge Bookstore

When fire damage happens inside your establishment, the situation can be very sudden and overwhelming. However, it is important not to let the initial dread that you can feel once the blaze has been put out to control your actions and delay you from contacting help. Emergency services do not end once the fire department leaves your property. In fact, it is imperative for you to get damage remediation professionals to your property as soon as possible.

When the blaze broke out in the storage room of your Rindge bookstore and caused fire damage, it was contained relatively quickly to just one shelved-wall. Most of the books and other merchandise on the shelving unit were destroyed. You might be asking yourself why you should hurry and get professional remediation services to your property if most of the merchandise in the area is unsalvageable?

Fire damage causes smoke and soot to bellow and spread throughout the immediate area. The longer that soot lingers on the walls, shelves, door, and flooring, the more likely it is to cause discoloration. The faster that a remediation company, like SERVPRO, can arrive at your store, the more likely it is that the job can go smoothly.

When SERVPRO arrives at your business, we can immediately begin to sort through your storage room whenever it is best for your time. We work on your schedule, and we can stay out of sight from your customers. We understand how vital foot traffic is to your business.

We can unbox merchandise and repackage it in new boxes that are not covered in greasy soot. Once we remove the merchandise, we can throw away any ruined materials and then begin the process of eliminating the soot stains from the walls, shelves, ceiling, and floor.

SERVPRO can use the spray-and-wipe method in conjunction with a lubricant-based solution in order to gently remove the grime from the various surfaces of your storage room. Furthermore, to address the foul odor that fires leave behind, SERVPRO can employ the use of a thermal fogger to neutralize the very particles that cause the scent in the first place. At SERVPRO, our ultimate goal is always to leave you feeling "Like it never even happened."

Locally Owned Company with National Resources

Remediating Commercial Flood Damage In Jaffrey

9/17/2018 (Permalink)

Regardless of the source, Jaffrey commercial flood damage can result in tens of thousands of dollars in cleanup and restoration costs.

Remediating Commercial Flood Damage

The weather around Jaffrey has been usually severe this last year, but many businesses still found many of their flood problems came from plumbing issues like a broken pipe connection or a failed appliance such as a water heater with a rusted out bottom.

Regardless of the source, Jaffrey commercial flood damage can result in tens of thousands of dollars in cleanup and restoration costs. SERVPRO teams respond quickly to remove water, dry property, and either restore or replace damaged items.

First, we find and stop the source of the water. If this was not outside water brought in by storm flooding, we need to stop the leak or rupture. A technician turns off the water main while an inspector finds the leak. Once he finds it, team members block the flow so water can be turned back on for the rest of the facility. That is particularly important for small businesses like a bed-and-breakfast operation.

We can perform minor repairs and even replace broken connections and short sections of pipe. For a major plumbing problem, SERVPRO team leaders recommend the business owner bring in a plumber or general contractor to fix it.

Now, our specialists bring in pumps and extraction wands to remove any standing water. Both devices operate swiftly, and the wands can also begin drawing water out of carpets. The quicker we can draw water out, the more property we can dry and restore instead of remove and replace it.

With the water gone, technicians set up a combination of dehumidifiers, air movers, and fans to reduce the humidity and dry property. Each humidifier can draw out up to 25 gallons of water from the air and surrounding property every 24 hours.

The action augments the air movers, which we use to force warm, dry air across damp surfaces like drywall panels to carefully restore them before the moisture they absorbed causes them to crumble in place, forcing replacement. As the air movers operate, we set up the fans to increase air circulation and draw the damp, inside air to the outside of the business.

For SERVPRO of Cheshire County, our task is to help you reopen your doors as quickly as possible. If you need us, call (603) 352-7251 at any time to schedule a visit. We are here for you.

Slight Commercial Fire Damage can Severely Affect Rindge Area Bed and Breakfast Establishments

6/13/2018 (Permalink)

Several methods to remove soot damage are evaluated by our crew to determine the best solution for your fire damaged building.

Removing Fire damage from your business

A small snafu with an overturned candle or a frying pan that got too hot and caught on fire can both cause larger areas of your bed and breakfast home business in Rindge to suffer from bad odors. These odors, depending on what caught on fire, can range from mild and barely noticeable to extreme and heavy smells that make the area unbearable. Any unpleasant smells can cause a decline in your profits, as well as your good reputation.

Small businesses in Rindge with commercial fire damage often find it quite easy to restore the building's physical damage, as its visibility makes repairs seem more critical. Once things look perfect again, unexpected odors make themselves known. Certified by the IICRC, SERVPRO's restoration technicians understand that odors remain behind unless we carry out the necessary treatments to rid your business of all of the odor-causing particles.

Removing damaged materials and cleaning up the visible soot merely reduces the amount of odor occupants experience. Painting specific areas with a smoke-killing paint product helps immensely, but this only works for the specific area covered with a fresh coat. A significant portion of the soot that causes odors exist in other places where even the best equipment cannot mechanically reach and remove to prevent the production of malodors.

Once we eliminate the oily soot and greasy residues from the surfaces inside your bed and breakfast, thermal fogging conducted by our Odor Control Technician (OCT) forces the fog into the same locations the fire pushed the smoke. The heated steam carries odor-neutralizing agents which bond at the molecular level with soot and smoke debris on contact. Afterward, your business smells like it should again, "Like it never even happened."

If you have an evacuation and re-entry plan, you can reduce downtime and more quickly re-activate your business. The packet also includes priority areas and priority contact information.

Commercial Water Damage in Your Dublin Restaurant

4/25/2018 (Permalink)

For Commercial Water Extraction in Dublin, Contact SERVPRO

SERVPRO Strives to Extract Water and Mitigate Damages to Your Eatery

The plumbing system in your busy Dublin restaurant puts up with much use. When many people are filtering in and out of bathrooms all the time, it is essential that you keep up with plumbing repairs and maintenance. Not only can plumbing problems like sewer backups and broken pipes cause water damage to your building, but also inconveniences and potential health hazards for your customers and employees.

Therefore, it is a good idea to have the plumbing system for your business maintained and regularly inspected. When a disaster or just a leak does strike, you could have plenty of commercial water damage to your Dublin restaurant to clean up. You want to do this quickly so your restaurant can be back up and running quickly, and to reduce revenue loss. That is where our staff at SERVPRO can help.

We understand time is of the essence in these situations, so we do not waste any time getting to your building to help you. Once we have removed any standing water, something we need to pay particular attention to is the flooring. In the case of ceramic tile, the tiles and grout joints are water resistant when they are installed over plywood. However, any cracks make the tile and underlying subfloor vulnerable to water damage.

Many times, the tile is unaffected, but water can penetrate the grouting, which causes the subfloor to warp or expand. Because of this, the tiles break apart at the joints and come loose. The tiles have to be reinstalled once the subfloor is dried and restored or repaired. It might be necessary to dry the floor from the bottom or to drill holes into the floor so we can adequately monitor the drying process. To check for moisture under ceramic tiles, SERVPRO technicians use a non-penetrating meter.

SERVPRO of Cheshire County wants to get your eatery in Walpole, Fitzwilliam, or Swanzey open for business as quickly as possible, but we also take care to dry everything thoroughly that was affected in the water emergency. By dialing (603) 352-7251, you can be helped by professionals.

Lingering Effects From A Small Fire In Your Jaffrey Bank

2/8/2018 (Permalink)

Don't Burn Up Your Bank Inventory in Jaffrey, Call SERVPRO for Fire Damage Cleanup and Restoration

Call SERVPRO for Fire Damage Restoration

Electrical fires can happen at a moment's notice and without giving off much of a warning. When it comes to professional establishments like the Jaffrey bank you manage, even a small electrical fire that sparks could lead to a high-stress situation. While your primary concerns rest with the sensitive information and money that you have on site, lingering effects from the fire can make it difficult for you to conduct routine business.

When you are recovering from fire damage to your Jaffrey bank, getting things restored quickly is very critical to your overall business model. As a bank, you can always get assured that people are going to come into your establishment on a regular basis regardless if they have new business or not, but having your doors open is an overall statement of the dependability of your brand and convenience to your customers who bank regularly with you.

While the extinguishing efforts were minuscule for a small electrical fire to your building, there are lingering effects which make it difficult for the employees and clients to want to be around. The odor is usually one of these lasting effects that make it hard to run a business, but SERVPRO has the tools and expertise to handle this symptom quickly and efficiently.

With the use of a dense fogging machine, our SERVPRO technicians release a chemical compound onto the materials, surfaces, and air in the affected area where the fire occurred. The chemical itself is odorless, and when it interacts with noxious scent molecules present in the area, it neutralizes these molecules. Then a pleasant scent can be sprayed to enhance the ambiance and indoor air quality.

Smoke and soot damage might not be excessive in a localized electrical fire, but cleaning the area gives your building back its presentable appearance. Depending on the severity of the damages and its thickness, our technicians utilize scrubbers that run with a wet solution or dry to remove this film from the surfaces in the region of the fire.

Your bank is a staple of the community that gets used every day that you are open, and it is because of this that you should seek out the professional assistance of our SERVPRO of Cheshire County team whenever you are facing an emergency situation like this. You can reach our certified restoration specialists anytime by calling (603) 352-7251.

How We Remove Water From Dublin Offices After Sprinklers Flood The Building

11/13/2017 (Permalink)

While sprinklers are an indispensable resource in your office's fight against future and potential fires, they can also cause significant damage.

Water Removal In Offices

While sprinklers are an indispensable resource in your office's fight against future and potential fires, they can also cause significant damage in their own right. Sprinklers can soak and flood an area or perhaps even the entire building, and may not halt their deluge even after the fire has been put out. Our water removal services for Dublin offices helps to both remove signs of damage from the building and keep sensitive items and documents safe. Here are a few steps we usually have to take to reverse damage from sprinklers in any commercial office.

Document And Item Recovery
Water removal for offices in Dublin typically involves the recovery and restoration of many varieties of items. Paper products, furniture, decorative features, and sensitive electronics are all common victims of water damage that require a professional touch to salvage. We combine the efforts of specialized contractors and our own well-trained and certified technicians to recover as much as possible and avoid costly replacements.

Water Extraction
In many cases, the sprinklers may continue to spill water for so long that we must bring in water extractors to pump out entire rooms or buildings at a time. Usually, we only need to use portable and lightweight extractors, but we also have access to bulkier truck-mounted variants if they are needed. Quick removal of standing water is essential to prevent mold damage from developing and to minimize direct impact from the water.

Complete Drying
To finish up our water removal efforts, we use air movers to accelerate natural air drying processes and whisk water droplets into the air. However, this also drastically raises relative humidity, so we use thermal and chemical dehumidifiers to collect moisture and transport it out of the building. Once this task is done, we can move on to damage restoration and repair efforts.

SERVPRO of Cheshire County is a locally owned franchise with national certifications and resources to provide your business with the best care possible after a disaster. Call us 24/7 at (603) 352-7251.

SERVPRO Is Always Ready to Assist with Emergency Smoke & Fire Remediation Services in Keene

Our team is currently working on a job in Keene where a 4-alarm fire caused severe damage to two apartments above a well-established men’s clothing store. After a thorough inspection of the Keene area property, we found extensive fire and smoke damage, as well as some water damage. One of the apartments required a complete demolition and reconstruction while the below unit had significant problems caused by water used to get the flames under control. Fortunately, the fire spared the men’s clothing store, which opened without incident the next day.

While our restoration of this property is still underway, SERVPRO would like to thank the Wichland Family for the opportunity to provide them with excellent services and reiterate our commitment to the ongoing project. Recurring Odor Issues After any Type of Commercial Fire Damage in Keene Hotels

7/31/2017 (Permalink)

Hotel rooms need to be free of unpleasant smells. If you have a fire or water damage event, contact SERVPRO to remove any lingering odors.

SERVPRO Technicians Focus on Remediating Fire Damage Including the Lingering Smell of Smoke

Hotel guests come from all different ethnic backgrounds and geographic locations and have specific reasons for traveling. Meeting hotel guests' needs and expectations include the normal situations as well as those that are highly unique. One that plagues hotel managers is complaints based on opinion, such as how a room smells.

Residents, tourists, and business executives who visit hotels in Keene can often detect smoke odors caused by past commercial fire damage. Any smoky-like odor can be highly disturbing to sensitive individuals. The root of an ongoing and steadily lingering odor can often be discovered quickly by SERVPRO professionals. Not all fire damage must be created by out-of-control blazes, and sometimes, guests fail to advise hotel staff of small fires that have happened. If a fire involved only removable items, the scent could still permeate walls, carpets, and draperies.

Depending on the odor's source, our technicians, relying on their IICRC training, can do one or more of several techniques that are long-lasting and quite effective. When carpeting is the source, injections into the carpet's pad with deodorizing liquid can be a highly effective solution. If fire damage has created a stench to envelop the walls, we can repaint them so they are resealed and fresh again. Draperies and upholstered items can be successfully cleaned at your hotel or our site, removing any unpleasant odors and imbued with a fresh scent again.

If guests complain to your staff about such situations, making sure that the problem is resolved can help prevent negative feedback posted online from adversely affecting future reservations. Showing a readiness, in addition to a willingness, to make things right for guests and to ensure their comfort can help your hotel's image. Guests in this type of situation are likely to be relieved that you are willing to do something, and possibly more prone to give your hotel and staff glowing feedback. Even if this is only on their social media profile, what they write can help many future guests decide to reserve a room at your hotel. This applies to fire damage-related issues and everything else that affects the quality of their experience.

SERVPRO of Cheshire County wants to help make your hotel as pleasant as it possibly can be for your hotel guests. If fire damage of any size has left behind unpleasant smells that are negatively affecting your guests, call us at (603) 352-7251. Our office is open 24/7, and we can help right away.
